Project Castello Italia S.p.A.: the perfect blend of construction general contracting and renewable energy solutions.

In 2023, Castello Italia S.p.A. sought to address an apparently simple need: expanding the finished product warehouse.

However, at INVECO, we never settle for immediate and superficial solutions. Drawing on our experience and vision as a General Building Contractor, we transformed this requirement into a much broader industrial development project. We identified a new warehouse location in Pontevico (CR), freeing up valuable space within the existing plant.

This enabled the integration of new 4.0 extrusion production lines, optimizing the internal areas and allowing for the refurbishment of the offices in the plant’s front-facing first span.

But we didn’t stop there. The land initially designated for the warehouse has been utilized to expand the photovoltaic plant, a decision that has not only increased Castello Italia’s energy self-sufficiency but also laid the foundation for future production expansion.

Should Castello Italia require additional space in the future, the ground-mounted photovoltaic panels can be easily relocated to the new industrial roof.

This flexible and forward-thinking approach is the key to our success as a general contractor: we don’t just respond to the immediate needs of our clients, but we always consider how to turn a challenge into an opportunity for sustainable and innovative growth.

Expansion of the photovoltaic system: more green energy and energy independence.

The existing photovoltaic system, installed in 2022 with a capacity of 602 kW, has already ensured that Castello Italia S.p.A. generated 651,240 kWh of green energy in 2023, covering 30% of the company’s energy needs.

However, the new project marks a further step forward.

A strategic expansion of 240 kW.

The expansion of the photovoltaic system included the addition of 240.54 kW of installed power, increasing self-production of energy to 1,000,000 kWh.

  • 44 modules of 570 W installed on the roof
  • 378 modules of 570 W installed on the ground

This has enabled Castello Italia S.p.A. to achieve 35% energy self-sufficiency compared to the national electricity grid.

The project involved the installation of 240 photovoltaic modules on concrete ballast with east/west orientation, a solution designed to maximize energy production during morning and afternoon hours, thereby reducing the input into the grid.

Ground-Mounted System with Ballasts: A Versatile Choice

The decision to install the modules on concrete ballasts offers greater flexibility.

In the future, the area may accommodate a 1,500 sqm production expansion, during which the existing photovoltaic system can be dismantled and subsequently reinstalled on the new industrial roof.

This solution makes the system a dynamic asset, adaptable to the client’s future needs.

Redesign of Executive Offices: Innovation and Sustainability.

In addition to the expansion of the photovoltaic system, the new framework agreement (2024-2025) includes a significant project for the redevelopment of the executive offices, which is currently in the design phase.

Projects Completed.

In recent months, INVECO HOLDING S.p.A. has successfully completed significant infrastructure improvements that have enhanced the functionality and safety of the industrial site:

  • New access for heavy traffic: a second entrance dedicated to heavy vehicles has been constructed, separated from the flow of employees and visitors. This intervention has greatly improved logistics management and site safety.
  • Expansion of the parking area: the creation of 36 new parking spaces has optimized internal traffic management, providing more organized and functional areas for employees and visitors.

Objectives of the Executive Office Refurbishment

The refurbishment of the executive offices at Castello Italia S.p.A. is an ambitious project aimed at improving operational efficiency and employee well-being.

The project includes enhancing workplace comfort for the plant’s employees:

  • Larger facilities dedicated to quality offices and research and development laboratories.
  • Renovation of the company’s locker rooms and cafeteria.

This initiative represents a strategic investment for Castello Italia, aimed at creating a modern, functional work environment aligned with the company’s sustainability goals.

The CEO of INVECO HOLDING S.p.A., Dr. Filippo Barbetti, emphasized the importance of the partnership with Castello Italia S.p.A.

The agreement is not limited to individual projects but is based on a long-term strategy that focuses on customer value and the creation of sustainable solutions:

“When dealing with top-tier partners like Castello Italia S.p.A., you need to look beyond short-term financial gain and aim for a long-term collaboration that generates value for both parties. Our goal is to provide integrated solutions that address technical challenges and create added value.”

This philosophy has allowed INVECO to position itself as a general contractor, a strategic partner capable of delivering a variety of interconnected services, including the design and installation of photovoltaic systems, infrastructure redevelopment, and the modernization of workspaces.

Conclusions

The framework agreement between INVECO HOLDING S.p.A. and Castello Italia S.p.A. represents a significant step forward toward comprehensive sustainability.

With the expansion of the photovoltaic plant and the renovation of the executive offices, both companies demonstrate their commitment to innovation, energy efficiency, and a long-term vision.

This investment not only generates immediate value but also lays the foundation for sustainable and lasting growth.
